Diane WoodMy journey into the art world began in 1999 when I moved to Colorado. What a wonderful feeling to express yourself on canvas. I work in three mediums: oil and pastels and acrylics. I must admit that I have developed a particular love for pastels. Pastels lend themselves to vibrant color. What is really gratifying in art is to convey a feeling, an expression of the scene, the weather, and the mood. The painting is really an extension of yourself and how you see the world.

I am a representational artist inspired daily by what I see. It may be sunlight glistening off a flower petal, a dewdrop on a leaf, a busy street scene or a tranquil meadow. Whatever the scene, I intuitively transpose the mood and the feeling to my canvas and the image comes alive with color and excitement.

If the viewer feels this same inspiration, then I am completely gratified with my accomplishment.

I have a passion for life and try to enjoy each day to the fullest. Gardening, another love of mine, is creation on the canvas of mother earth. Many of my floral paintings are of subjects in my garden. Music, too, is vital in my life. Most evenings a little time is set aside for my piano, another way I enjoy expressing myself.

April 2007 afforded the opportunity to travel to China and participate in an art show at Hangzhou University. Also in 2007, I have the good fortune to have my work selected for the Longmont, Colorado Rhythm on the River poster.
