Terri Allender

I have been fortunate to live in the Vail Valley since 1974. Now that I am retired, I am able to do more of the things that nurture me, including art. I am drawn to natural beauty: light and shadow, water and sky, color and form. I feel a deep sense of connection to the natural world. Last summer I was able to do pastel workshops with Greg Barnes and Dennis Rhoades.

When I step away from a painting I am always surprised to see how the piece I have been working on fits into the whole. It is as if the painting is painting itself and I am trying not to get in the way!

I love making art, but not so much the business of art, so I donate half of the proceeds of my art sales to The Sherpa Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Vail Resident Pemba Tenzing Sherpa to help the people of Nepal rebuild after the devastating earthquake of 2015.
