Jeannette Stutzman

I've been an artist and teacher throughout my adult life with a passion for art since childhood. I paint in oils and pastel primarily but enjoy venturing into other mediums for exploration and to study technique and effects.

I've been fortunate to have been selected by Southwest Art magazine to be featured in the October, 2015 published section titled "Women in Art" as well as in the September, 2014 and 2015 issues under Preview Show pages. My painting "Trading Post" was recently awarded "Best Oil" at the Western Spirit Show in Cheyenne.

The landscape, as far as possible from material day-to-day things, often thrills me, while providing balance and peace. I choose to paint the landscape with its variety of textures, light, color and movement, for the challenge, to learn and grow as an artist. My newest works are bold, direct and emotional and I strive to capture the power and excitement that I experience while out in nature.

To borrow from a David Bowie interview on BBC... "The gray space between the creation and the audience is what it's all about."
