Cheryl Garcia

My first art passion was Chinese Brush Painting. But work took over my life and I stopped painting. In 2003 I decided I needed balance and decided to take up art again. After receiving a starter set of SenneIier pastels I fell in love with the medium. I love pastels because they are so vibrant, immediate and messy. I focus on painting flowers and landscapes because the natural world speaks to my heart and appeals to all my senses. Of course there is the visual appeal but I love to touch the flesh of a flower petal, smell pine trees after a cleansing rain and hear the wind blow through a forest. And that is why I paint nature. I primarily paint in my studio but I also paint plein aire whenever I can. Now that I am retired I am looking forward to many more plein aire trips in my RV.
