Gloria Muniz

I have always been interested in art but was unable to pursue until I retired in 2007 from a lengthy career in business administration. At that time I began taking independent workshops & some classes at the Art Students League. I also began doing genealogical research on my husbands family. The result was a 520 page tome dating back to 1745 and a desire to paint from the old family photographs that I collected along the way.
I am primarily interested in painting portraits & the figure. I love taking small, worn, black & white portraits of family members and bringing them back to life. Some give me the freedom of exploring my own color choices & some seem to lend themselves to remaining monotone.
I enjoy the space that resides somewhere between realism & impressionism hoping that I can capture a realistic enough portrait but more so that it captures the essence of their character.
