Becky Johnson

Becky Johnson has worked in pastel for more than 45 years. Her distinctive style is self-taught, and after an early focus on painting wildlife, in recent years landscape has become her primary subject. Photos taking while traveling to and from art shows around the Midwest often provided reference for new work, and in 2005 an opportunity to paint 'en plein air' added another exciting element to her landscape paintings. She is especially intrigued by light, and often chooses to light a scene with early morning or late afternoon sun.

Her work has received numerous awards including the Ruth Richeson Gold Award in the Pastel 100 competition. Her paintings are included in private and public collections in the United States and abroad. Some of her most popular paintings are available as Limited Edition Giclee reproductions.

She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Society of the West Coast and the Pikes Peak Pastel Society.
