Michael Roe

I began my pursuit in art as a teenager. Loving to draw and paint at an early age, I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in some area of art. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a minor in Advertising Design in 1975 from Utah State University. My early professional career was spent as a freelance illustrator in Los Angeles and in graphic arts as an art director and computer retoucher. After retiring, I have focused on fine art.

I discovered soft pastels in 2011 and love their ability to depict light filled images. I work in oil, acrylic and pastel and love painting landscapes in an impressionistic style. I also enjoy painting animals and people. One of my pastel landscapes was an award winner in the 2018 "This is Colorado" Show
and another landscape was accepted to the Pastel Society of Colorado's "Small Works" Pastel Show.

I have been a member of the Art Students League of Denver, participating in classes and drawing studios. I am a member of the Pastel Society of Colorado.
